| GS
Racing's involvement in Standardbred ownership began when we
formed the "Write Stuff Stable" in the summer of 2009.
This small group of owners is comprised of those working in
racing media and other interested parties. Advising us and partnering
with us as an owner in all of our upcoming Standardbred ventures
is noted trainer Ernie Gaskin.
Ernie,
who worked with the late Hall of Famer Billy Haughton and developed
such champions as Nihilator, now co-owns and manages Crimson
Lane Farm in Indiana. He also purchases yearlings for clients
and manages the careers of 2 and 3-year-old stakes horses. Our
stable's horses are trained by Tyler George, a young man who
campaigns a very successful stable in Indiana.
Although
we raced in Pennsylvania in 2009, in 2010 we'll be racing in
Indiana at Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs. Purses there are
at an all-time high, thanks in large part to being fueled by
monies generated by casinos at the two tracks. As an example,
$10,000 claimers at Hoosier Park race for a solid purse of $12,000,
and those horses can generally race every 7-10 days, so the
opportunity for profit is better than ever.
The
associated cost and setup for our partnerships is explained
on the How
To Join
page on this site. If you're interested in becoming a racehorse
owner and would perhaps like to participate in one of our ventures,
please email
Greg Schuler.
As
horses are acquired by GS Racing's partnerships, information
on each will be posted here. Our first horse, Therealshowstopper,
was claimed by Write Stuff Stable on Oct. 21, 2009, and he was
claimed from us the following week after a third-place finish.
We've now purchased an Indiana-bred that's been racing in California,
JD's Awesom Al, who holds good promise for
the Indiana-bred "Mini Series" that will be raced
this spring at Hoosier Park. Be sure to view the race
archive on the site for a history of our horses' previous
races.
